In 1970, Stan Kenton and his orchestra recorded the iconic Live at Redlands University — a groundbreaking album that helped define the future of big band jazz and music education.
Now, 55 years later, the Stan Kenton Legacy Orchestra, led by trumpet legend Mike Vax, brings that historic moment back to life through a dynamic national tour and education-centered outreach initiative.
Mike Vax, who played lead trumpet on the original Redlands recording, leads SKLO with passion and authenticity. With the blessing of the Kenton family, the ensemble continues Kenton’s legacy of bold sound, artistic innovation, and deep commitment to music education.
